Airboating in Nebraska

The rivers of Nebraska are great to airboat on. Most of them have soft sand. We have the Platte River, Loop Rivers and the Elkhorn. These are the main ones we run on although there are others that I have not been on yet.

There are many obstacles that one must be on the watch for when airboating. In the water there may be sandbars or logs just below or above the water surface. There also the bridges that can have clearance problems. Just because you got under one just hours before does not mean that you will be able to get under it again. On the average day, the river levels will change approximately a foot.

Airboating in Kansas

In Kansas the only river that I have boated on is the Arkansas river. It is more gravel than in Nebraska. There are some rocks in the bottom of the river also. From just outside of Winfield Kansas we boated down to the mouth of the Kaw Dam in Oklahoma.

The Kasas people that we boat with when we go down there are great people. Friday and Saturday evenings they have great cookouts with the best food you can find anywhere. It is always a great ending for the day.

Airboating in Oklahoma

On Sunday we go down to Ponca City Oklahoma for breakfast and then travel south to put in below the Kaw Dam and then boat down river to some great location on the Arkansas River. In Kansas and Oklahoma, the Arkansas River is pronounced (Our Kansas River).

While we were getting the boats loaded up at the end of the day the Oklahoma crew was cooking up some great hot dogs and hamburgers width all of the fixens. This was a great close for a great weekend evenly though we were sad to see the weekend comming to a close.

Airboating in Florida

We have made several trips to Florida for the Broward County Airboat & Halftrack show. This is always a great weekend of fun. There are always many airboats and halftracks at the show to be able to see what everyone has built. The Show is Saturday & Sunday and then the group gets together for a nice ride into the glades on Monday. We have gotten to be the guests of some very generous people that have given us rides with them on their airboats so we could see the airboating south Florida style.

Every where we go and are around other airboaters they are the warmest and most wonderful people. It is sad that this is the end of a wonderful weekend and time to head back home again. We are always looking forward to the next time we get to come back down again.
